Recovering Your Loss

Make Sure You Do What You Need To In Order To Get Your Medical Bills Covered

If you get injured at work, you may think that you have to go see your own doctor and pay for it all out of your own pocket. However, that's not true. If you are injured at work, your employer should pay for it, and they will likely send you to a doctor of their own choosing. Your employer should have workers compensation insurance, which they pay in order to make sure that any employees who get injured get all the assistance they need. That means that if you do get injured, you need to make sure that go through the proper steps to make it easier for you to go through the entire process and get the help you need.

Report Your Injury

If you have been injured, you need to make sure that those in charge know about it. That means that you need to make sure that your manager or direct supervisor knows about it. If it isn't something that is an emergency, they may ask you to go to any human resources department to report the injury as well. Your supervisor may call an ambulance or arrange a ride for you to get to the hospital or doctor's office. They may also go with you to keep apprised of the situation. While you are at the hospital or doctor's office, your employer may require that you get drug tested.

Keep All Doctor's Appointments

You may feel like you don't need to see the doctor because your injury appears to be getting better, however, that's not true. You need to go to each and every doctor's appointment. That way your employer can't assume that you are ready to return to work or return to full duties when your body isn't ready to. You may want to avoid the appointments because you are worried that the doctor will tell your employer what is going on with your injury, but according to federal law, your doctor cannot discuss your medical case with anyone unless you have signed a release, and even if you do sign a release, you can limit what can and cannot be discussed.

If you have been injured and you do what you need to do according to your employer's rules and policies, you will hopefully have no problem getting your medical bills taken care of. However, if you do have a problem, you may need to see a lawyer like Neifert Byrne & Ozga to help you get what you deserve.
